Principal's Message
As principal of Scoil Naomh Mhuire, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our school website. I hope that through its pages, you will get a feel of the wonderful teaching and learning that takes place in our school.
Scoil Naomh Mhuire NS is a small rural, coeducational school situated in an idyllic setting in the heart of Donadea.
Our team of dedicated and committed staff strive to provide a happy, safe and productive learning environment for all our pupils. The high quality of our child-centred approach to teaching and learning has been commended by the Department of Education & Skills.
We take an active, discovery-based approach to learning, using the most up-to-date practices, as recommended by the Department of Education and Skills – Aistear; Ready, Set, Go Maths; Literacy Lift Off; Cooperative Learning and the use of technology in all classrooms. Our pupils’ attainments in literacy and numeracy are consistently higher than the national norms. Our recently developed buildings and grounds provide an attractive and productive learning environment for all our pupils.
Scoil Naomh Mhuire’s curricular policies fully reflect the aims of the primary school curriculum which promotes the active involvement of children in a learning process that is imaginative and stimulating. Its overall vision is to enable children to meet, with self-confidence and assurance, the demands of life, both now and in the future.
The pupils also enjoy learning experiences within the context of the wider community, with regular field trips to local amenities such as Donadea Forest Park, Ballinafagh Lake and maths, science, history and geography trails in the local area. Invited visitors to the classroom share a wealth of experience and knowledge with the children.
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. If you wish to contact us or require any further information we welcome hearing from you.
