We have had a very busy month of September. We embraced the key competencies of our redeveloped curriculum- Be Creative, Be Well, Be an Active Learner- and we played a lot! We also worked very hard on developing our 21st century skills of critical thinking, collaboration, communication and creativity. Children are never "just playing"-there is so much deep learning and skill development happening beneath the surface. It really is amazing to see such creativity and innovative thinking from 3rd Class.
We made sock puppets to help us explore "Mé féin" as Gaeilge. I hope you will have heard lots of Gaeilge when you were being introduced to our new characters; "Is mise____. Tá súile ____agam. Tá gruaig ___orm. Tá ___ i mo chlann. Tá/ Níl deartháireacha/ deirfiúracha agam"
We also had a very interesting History Walk with Dr. Séamus Cullen; the children learned about the history of Donadea Castle, The Ice House, The Boathouse, 9/11 Monuments and the Alymer Family.
