2nd Class Work: 2nd June - 5th June
Timetable
Please click here for a suggested timetable that you can follow this week if you would like to. This may suit some children but not others and that is absolutely fine. Every child should work to their own system at their own pace.

English
This week for English we will be reading a story called The Cautious Caterpillar. The story sends a message that from time to time, the idea of change can scare us and we think that we want things to stay the same. But then, when change happens, we realise that it is not as scary as we thought and that sometimes it is better than what we had been experiencing.
Some of you might be wondering at the moment about what 3rd Class will be like next year. You will be in a different building etc. but this story will hopefully help you to realise that you are ready for this change and you will probably absolutely love it when the time comes.
The second piece is similar in a way in that it gives a factual account of the Life Cycle of a butterfly.
There are questions attached with each story and when you have finished, perhaps you might like to try this crossword or this wordsearch.
Michael Morpurgo is author of a lovely novel entitled The Butterfly Lion. It can be downloaded here or you can listen to it here. You will probably need a grown up to read it to you as it is quite tricky and the print is small. It's a good story though.
Gaeilge
You will find four comprehension pieces along with instructions in this powerpoint.
Maths
This week in Maths you will be revising. This is straightforward and may seem a little boring to you but it is VERY important that you continue to practise this kind of number work. Please complete 30 minutes daily of sums from the following pages of your Mathemagic 2: pages 151, 152, 153 and 157. Any sums done from pages 151 and 152 will need to be done in your copies or on a page. Read the instructions and look at the examples carefully before you begin. If you want to send me photos, I will correct them and send them back to you.
I don't expect you to get all the sums done on these two pages but work to the best of your ability for 30 minutes on each page. You will be surprised what you get through.
You can also continue to test your mental maths skills by continuing on with your Master your Maths books.
History & Geography
In History and Geography this week, you will be learning about our local area and its history in order to help you with your design for our school crest. You can find details of this task and what is required on the home page of the website.
Please spend time on this as it is important to us that we see and hear the ideas of as many of you as possible. And above all, enjoy it!
