Mrs. Crotty's Message 4th May 2020
Dear Parents, Guardians and Students, I want to acknowledge the taoiseach's disappointing announcement on Friday that we would not be returning to school this year. This is not the news we had hoped for and I think everyone would have preferred to have got back to school even briefly before the end of June. However, we must comply with government regulations and focus on the positives - sunshine, good health and an opportunity to appreciate the simple things in life. We are particularly cognisant of our 6th Class pupils and are really very sad that they will not get the chance to finish out the school year as all other 6th classes have done. However, I want to reassure these children that, in due course, and when circumstances permit, we will gather with them again and celebrate the end of their primary schooling and their graduation into secondary school, just as all other classes before them have had the opportunity to do. We will continue to stay in touch with you all and will keep you updated as we ourselves receive updates. We will meet as a staff this week to discuss how we can best continue to meet the needs of all the pupils remotely. We thank both parents and pupils for all their hard work and the support they have shown to the school over the past number of weeks. We will continue to work together over the coming weeks and I am confident that we will all get to the end of the year intact. If people keep going with the work as best they can, that's all anyone can do. We absolutely understand how difficult it is and are here to support you in any way we can so please get in touch if you need anything at all. In the meantime, take care and stay safe. Kind regards, Áine Crotty Principal |
