2nd Class Work: 5th May
Dear boys and girls,
Wishing you all a very happy summer. May is here, we're all healthy and happy I hope, and the sun is shining so all is good.
I'm sure by now you've all heard the disappointing news that we will not be back to school this year. I know you are all missing your friends a lot and I'm sure you would have liked to have been back to school before the summer holidays. However, we must do as we are asked to help slow the spread of the coronavirus. The main things we are being asked to do are to stay at home and to continue to wash our hands carefully.
Time for another week's work ahead. I know you'll all do your very best as you do every week. Keep chipping away at it a little bit every day and you will be fine. Remember especially to keep going with your reading. Keep sending me in the bits of work you're getting through as I love to see them.
This week I have included a suggested timetable that you can follow. This might help you or you might prefer to do it your own way and that is fine. You can click on the link just under this message to download it.
I am missing you all very much and looking forward to the time when we can all get together again.
Ms. Crotty

English
For English this week, you can see in the timetable above, we will have 3 lessons; two writing lessons and one oral language lesson. Everything you need for these lessons is attached below.
I also want you to do 10-20 minutes DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) each day. This is a really great way to get interested in reading because as you go through a book you will become more and more interested in the story and wondering how it will end - even if it seemed like a chore to read it in the beginning. When you've finished your book (in your own time), complete a book report on it using one of the templates below and send it to me. I would really love to see it. You don't have to do this for every book you read and you don't have to do one every week. But I would love to get at least one book report from each child over the next few weeks so that I can see what you're reading.
