1st Class Work: 18th May - 29th May
Dear boys and girls,
I hope you've all had a lovely weekend and are ready to take on another week. Below is your work for the next two weeks. I may add one or two bits over the next fortnight so keep an eye on the page.
Well done to all of you who completed our quizzes last week. You all did so well and I was very impressed with the can-do attitude of those of you who gave the quiz a second and third try in an effort to beat your scores. Huge well done to you. Let me know if you enjoyed them or not as I might put a few more quizzes up if they are something you like.
I look forward to seeing all your work over the next two weeks and I hope you'll enjoy our new theme of Summer.
Have a great week everyone.

Timetable
Please click here for a suggested timetable that you can follow this week if you would like to. This may suit some children but not others and that is absolutely fine. Every child should work to their own system at their own pace.

English
Word Wizard Chapter 13 pages 73-78; Making a Flower Mobile. Focus for this fortnight is on the procedural genre - how to do something / following instructions. The children are exposed to this in baking, science experiments, Art or anything that involves following a step-by-step process so it is an important genre to master.
Phonics focus is on silent letters as seen on this worksheet. Here is a silent_letters_snakes_and_ladders.pdf game which I thought was really good as it teaches the children new vocabulary as well as silent letter patterns.
Gaeilge
Bun go Barr Aonad 17 pg. 106-111
You may find Ag Súgradh San Uisce of some help if there are any words you don't understand or any words you can't read.

Science
Our theme for the fortnight is summer. We will focus on this in Science by thinking about how we recognise signs of summer in living things all around us. Part of your work for this fortnight is to get out for a walk or just into your garden and notice the signs of summer. Our summer.pdf might help you to recognise the signs.
Religion
Below are a few activities you can complete this week - continue on with your May work booklet which I posted a link to last week.
PE
Get your week off to an active start by taking on one of Joe Wicks's sessions. Trust me, you'll be glad to be sitting down to a bit of Gaeilge by the time you've finished!! Find him here. Good luck!
