English
This week in English we will be looking at persuasive Writing. For this week, the children will be expected to edit and write their completed persuasive writing this week. The topic for their writing is "why should water pollution be stopped?"
Also in relation to Reading, I wanted us to try and read together. So I have attached the link to bring you to the online copy of Roald Dahl's very famous book, the BFG. I have attached an audio of me reading the Chapter 5 today that the children can listen to as the read along to the words. This week I would like the children to read Chapter 6 called "The Giants" and next week I will read Chapter 7. (Click below for the book)

Irish
This week we will be reading about Caitheamh Aimsire! (Pastimes). I have uploaded the reading comprehension in the link below with recordings of myself reading them aloud to help the children with pronunciation.
If you just click on the speaker Icon and press play the children will be able to hear me read and then they can read it aloud afterwards to practice their oral Irish. I have also added in translations to help at home because I understand that Irish is a tricky subject to help with.
I have also included a PowerPoint with a voice over to go through some new words about Caitheamh Aimsire. There is a worksheet at the end of this powerpoint.

Geography- The Water Cycle- Watch the video on the Water Cycle below to learn about the different stages and design the Ziploc bag water cycle shown below and watch a mini water cycle inside your house!
Science- Many societies were built near water and wanted to trade with other places across the water. As time went on they started to build bridges. Please try make a bridge that can stay up on two tables/chairs (like the photos below!), using only newspaper and sellotape. I have added two photos to show how it has to stand but it does not need to be as big. You can test your bridge to see if it is strong enough by putting weight on the centre, such as coins! History- I have uploaded a PowerPoint to the website about a famous sea explorer, Captain James Cook. You can read all about his adventures below!Design a poster that you think would have been advertised by James Cook to recruit sailors for his travels into the scary, unknown seas! |

Drama/Art/ Music
Art- The children can create a marble effect on a piece of paper by following the instructions in the file above.
They can then draw an under water photo on top or they can cut the marble sheet into a sea animal or use it as a background. I have included a sample here. Drama- Imagine you were one of the first explorers to set sail across the sea, like Captain James Cook. Make an imaginary boat out of chairs or objects at home and act out the difficult journey! Music- We looked at body percussion at the very start of the year. See can you create the sound of a rainstorm using only your body. I have uploaded the video we watched in September to give the children some ideas. I would love to hear some rainstorms that are created. |

Questions to answer:
What miracles did Moses preform in the video?
What was Moses trying to get the Pharaoh to do?
What country was Moses in?
How did God help moses with the Red Sea at the end of the video?
Do you think what Moses did was right or wrong? why?
